September 2017: a touring production of music and visuals shaped site-responsively to venues around the UK. Performed by keyboardist/ composer Ben Gaunt, wrapped in an immersive visual set created through lighting, projection and drawing by artist Debbie Sharp.
I produced and directed the project, touring to arts spaces in London (Iklectik), Brighton (The Rose Hill), Manchester (IABF) and Leeds (Seven Arts). Each version of ONE was tailored to the venue, adapted to the instruments, architecture and atmosphere of the location, but connected to the other events in the series through the music and visuals that underlie the project.
The project featured music for ONE, my collection of piano studies, alongside works by Shiva Feshareki (At the End of School Assembly), Frank Laws and Ben Gaunt, together with a newly commissioned graphic score improvisation book by Claudia Molitor. The book was created by collaging together photographs from each venue and musical sketches commissioned from Michael Betteridge (Manchester), Daniel Kidane (London), Ben Gaunt (Leeds), me, and Claudia herself (Brighton).
ONE was supported using public funding by the national lottery through Arts Council England, and was part of the Composer-Curator programme 2017 from Sound and Music, the national charity for new music.
