Players should read together from left to right, or right to left, either slowly moving across the page for the duration of the performance or repeating the page several times more rapidly. The score transcribes the push and pull of the waves on the beach, with the black shapes showing the rush of water and the white bubbles showing the hiss of the undertow, and the relative width of each shape indicating a crescendo/decrescendo. Numbers can be used to denote beats or repetitions of phrases/material. The texture should be soft-edged.
Created as part of Postcards from Eyemouth, supported by funding from Creative Scotland Open Project Fund and Leeds College of Music. Performed by an ensemble of young musicians from Leeds College of Music, at Eyemouth Hippodrome, 22 April 2017.
